Five nights at the base rate might look affordable right up until medication, extra walks, or a holiday surcharge get tacked on.

Facility type and pet size
Every kennel and resort requires proof of current vaccinations before they'll take your dog, and the bordetella vaccine for kennel cough is the one facilities enforce most strictly, since a building full of unfamiliar dogs breathing on each other is exactly the environment that virus spreads through. Hiring someone to stay in your home, or just drop in once or twice a day, typically costs $25 to $75 per visit depending on how long they stay and where you live. It skips the stress of a kennel environment for pets that don't do well around other animals, but tally up daily drop-ins across a full week and the total often lands close to what boarding would have cost anyway.
