Per-child billing is the norm and it rarely bends for multiples, so three infants in daycare commonly averages around $3,000 a month combined, more in higher cost-of-living areas. It's common enough for childcare to outweigh every other monthly cost in a triplets budget combined, which is exactly why it's worth pricing out before the babies arrive rather than after. A nanny paid a single household rate is sometimes the cheaper option once you're covering three infants, since one caregiver's salary doesn't scale the same way per-child daycare tuition does.
Health insurance and medical costs run higher than for a single baby
Adding three children to a health plan, plus the routine checkups and extra specialist follow-up multiples tend to need, averages out to roughly $450 a month. Triplet pregnancies deliver preterm far more often than singleton pregnancies, commonly weeks before full term, so a NICU stay for one or more babies is common enough to expect rather than treat as a worst case. Even after a NICU discharge, follow-up visits with specialists such as pediatric ophthalmology or pulmonology are common in the first year for babies born early.
Supplies, gear, and clothing multiply by three
