Can I Afford It

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

What we collect

Right now, Can I Afford It doesn't have accounts or a server-side database. The income, credit score, existing debt, and items you enter are stored only in your own browser (using its local storage), on your own device. We don't receive, see, or store that information ourselves, and it isn't sent anywhere when you use the calculators.

Local storage

Local storage works like a cookie you can't see: it lets the site remember your income and saved items between visits, in that specific browser, on that specific device. Clearing your browser's site data, or using a different browser or device, will clear or not show that information. We don't currently use tracking cookies or fingerprinting.

Third parties

We don't currently use any analytics, advertising, or third-party tracking scripts. If that changes - for example, if we add advertising or usage analytics to support the site - we'll update this policy to say so before that happens, and name who we're working with.

Accounts, later

We plan to add optional sign-in in the future so you can sync your list across devices. When that launches, this policy will be updated to explain exactly what account data we'd store and how - nothing changes about how we handle your data until then.

Children's privacy

This site isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If how we handle data changes, we'll update this page and change the "last updated" date above.
